Clean the spot with soap and water then spray diluted vinegar/water on the spot. It neutralizes the ammonia which attracts them to pee there. Get on a schedule and stick to it. Crate your puppy when you cant directly supervise. when you take him/her out of the crate make a beeline for the outside potty spot and praise like crazy the second the puppy finishes. He will get the hint. Be consistent and use positive reinforcement it works much faster than the negative. And your puppy will be happy not fearful.

Potty training puppy
1. Puppy should be with you (tethered if necessary) or crated if you can’t watch her.
2. Feed on a schedule, 2 times a day.
3. Take puppy out right after eating, drinking, playing, waking up, anything exciting, and every couple of hours otherwise.
4. When you take puppy out, go outside with her, and quietly wait for her to do her business. Give her a word to associate with it, like "go potty," "hurry up," or whatever you won’t be embarrassed for the neighbors to hear. No playing until she’s done.
5. When puppy goes potty outside, throw a party! Verbal praise, treats, and playing.
6. If she has an accident and you catch her, interrupt her and take her out immediately. If she goes, see step 5.
7. If she has an accident and you don’t catch her, quietly clean it up. Use an enzymatic cleaner like Petzyme, Nature’s Miracle, Simple Solution, etc. Don’t yell at her or punish her after the fact; she won’t understand.
8. Look into clicker training, it makes training go a lot faster

Soak up as much of the urine as you can. Mix a solution of 50% white vinegar and 50% water and saturate the soiled area. Use a brush to get it deep down. Let air dry. To speed up this process you can use a fan.
When the carpet is dry, get a handful of baking soda and sprinkle over the soiled area. Mix together 1/2 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide and 1 tsp of dish detergent. Slowly pour the solution over the baking soda and work into carpet real good with your hands and scrub brush, wear gloves. Let it air dry and vacuum.
Never use ammonia or ammonia based cleaner. Urine contains ammonia and it will attract your pet to that spot again.

There are sprays you can apply outside to encourage him to go there. You need to take him outside very frequently day and night. Don’t paper train or it will take 6 months to get him housebroke. Tough it out on the "every few hours" plan and you’ll be done in a month or two.

I agree with Nikki. Natures miracle works awesome.
I have a husky puppy and he had chronic diarrhoea so i had to clean many accidents in the house. I tried many different brands of pet odour removers and natures miracle works the best- i totally recommend it!

Sweet Sam,
A dogs olfactory sense is hundreds of times more acute than ours. So no!!!!
The problem you are having is most likely during the times you are in bed and are not watching the dog.
If you get one of the those plastic enclosed kennels for the doggies bed, then you can enclose (lock up) the doggie while you are asleep. A dog won’t go in it’s own bed and so as soon as you get up, take the dog outside.
You can also try restricting the dog access to where it is messing up your place.
Take you doggie out often and good luck
